Has anyone ever hear their MSD ticking?? After I have been driving it for a couple minutes it starts up and drives me crazy. If I take my foot off the gas pedal it stops ticking. WHAT IS UP WITH THAT???

make sure no wires are touching the rotor inside the distributor,if you have wires in the distributor, also, check all the wire connections to be sure they are not touching anything.

Its a bomb!!! J/K, the MSD ticks because it's a multiple discharge capacitive unit. The MSD fires multiple times before 3000rpm, after that it becomes a regular firing ignition system.

The loud ticking ended up being the fuel enrichment relay. I replaced it and now everything is fine. THANK GOD because that ticking was driving me nuts.

    Question

    Zip:

    I'm a little confused here...

Why would my MSD (Multiple Spark Discharge) system operate correctly (fire 5 shots of rated coil output) below 3000 rpm, but then switch back to a standard output system when my cylinder pressures increased (when I would need its features most)...

    Lightbulb

    That's what I was wondering...

It sounded to me like the MSD's abilities were eliminated after 3000 rpm (when in fact they were only diminished with MS limitations due to rpm)...

But you'd still produce a greater spark per cycle, by having saturation on each output of your MSD...
